Matt Damon has said he would like to make a sequel to the poker drama Rounders, which he filmed in the late 1990s. The prospect matters because the original became a cult favourite despite modest box-office returns, and a follow-up could revisit its characters in a markedly changed poker world.

Damon said writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien had developed a strong idea for a new story. He suggested it could explore online poker and younger players’ greater exposure to advanced strategy, while potentially bringing Mike McDermott and Teddy KGB into that new environment; no sequel has been confirmed.
