## Key points

- Disney+’s lavish fantasy romance has a rocky opening.
- The first four episodes struggle to make Navier compelling.
- Its source webtoon has nearly three billion Naver views.

## Summary

The first four episodes of Disney+’s *The Remarried Empress* establish a lavish fantasy romance about Empress Navier, whose husband, Emperor Sovieshu, falls for Rashta after rescuing her. The review sees promise in the premise and its reversal of familiar princess-story roles, but finds the opening uneven and the characters too shallow to make Navier compelling.

The 10-episode live-action series adapts a web novel and webtoon that has amassed nearly three billion views on Naver. Shin Min-a plays Navier, Ju Ji-hoon is Sovieshu, and Lee Se-young is Rashta; Lee Jong-suk plays Prince Heinrey, who first approaches Navier in bird form. The review says the political consequences of the threatened divorce remain unclear, while the magical world-building hints at potential without yet coming together.
