‘The Rookie’ Officially Locks In for More Seasons Thanks to 1 Major Move
ABC's police procedural *The Rookie* looks set to continue for the foreseeable future after creator and showrunner Alexi Hawley extended his overall deal with Lionsgate Television for several more years. The move signals strong studio support for the series, easing fan concerns about a possible cancellation after eight seasons and helping secure the show's long-term future on the network.
Under the new agreement, Hawley will continue developing projects exclusively for Lionsgate, which produces *The Rookie*. This covers the flagship show, which debuted in 2018 and has aired more than 140 episodes led by Nathan Fillion, as well as its new spin-off, *The Rookie: North*. Hawley is also developing a separate drama, *The Envoy*, for HBO Max under the same Lionsgate umbrella.
