‘The Rookie’s New Spin-Off Officially Expands With ‘The Night Agent’ Star
ABC's police procedural The Rookie continues to deliver strong ratings, accumulating over 12.8 billion viewing minutes in the first half of 2026. The network is capitalising on this success by expanding the franchise with a second spin-off, The Rookie: North, after its previous attempt, The Rookie: Feds, was cancelled following a single season.
The upcoming series will centre on a middle-aged man who becomes the oldest recruit at the Pierce County Police Department following a traumatic home invasion. Jay Ellis leads the cast as the protagonist, supported by actors from acclaimed series including Stranger Things, This is Us, and The Boys. The ensemble recently grew with the addition of Curtis Lum from The Night Agent, who will appear in a recurring capacity as a cheerful and easygoing officer. The show is scheduled to premiere in 2027.
