IGN's review of "The Runner", starring Gal Gadot and released on Prime Video from 2 September, finds an 84-minute thriller that struggles to rise above its high-concept premise. Gadot plays lawyer Maia Marten, blackmailed by an anonymous phone "Caller" into killing a witness to save her kidnapped son, forcing her to sprint across London against the clock; the review credits Gadot's committed performance while criticising the script's logical gaps, thin backstory and unsatisfying resolution.

Directed by Kevin Macdonald ("Touching the Void", "The Last King of Scotland") from a script by Mark Gibson, the film leans on smartphones as its true antagonist, intercutting Maia's frantic run with glimpses of other Londoners glued to their screens. The reviewer praises several well-staged action sequences, including chases over bridges, onto boats and through the London Underground, but says the film's attempts at social commentary and its Columbo-style climactic explanation fall flat, leaving Gadot's efforts undermined by a weak plot.
