Atlassian CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes has pushed back against concerns about the "SaaSpocalypse"—the notion that AI could render enterprise software tools like Jira and Trello obsolete by either automating work across multiple platforms or replacing these tools entirely. In a podcast interview, Cannon-Brookes addressed fears that AI-powered systems might make migration to Atlassian's unified platform less appealing, or that artificial intelligence could simply build these tools independently, destroying the entire SaaS category of businesses.

Cannon-Brookes highlighted that AI is actually increasing usage of Atlassian's tools rather than threatening them, whilst emphasising the continued importance of design and human users in enterprise software. He was direct about AI's limitations and disagreed with other tech leaders, such as Cloudflare CEO Matthew Prince, who have suggested AI will eliminate entire categories of roles. Like many tech companies, Atlassian has undergone restructuring this year, with Cannon-Brookes noting the need for a different "mix of skills" as the company adapts to an AI-driven environment.
