The Simpsons’ new two-part special, “Yellow Mirror”, a parody of Netflix sci-fi anthology Black Mirror, has become Disney Plus’s most-watched programme. The result is notable for a series now in its 37th season, showing it can still generate substantial interest through topical pop-culture satire and its established horror-anthology style.

The 26-minute episode contains two stories: one follows Homer discussing reality with a lamp, while the other sees an AI-powered tablet manipulate Maggie and satirises children’s screen use. It has an IMDb rating of 7.5, above the season’s 6.9 average but below classic episodes such as “Treehouse of Horror V” at 9.2; season 38 is due on 27 September 2026, with a new film planned for 3 September 2027.
