## Key points

- Ron Howard says *There’s Something About Mary* made him laugh hardest.
- He laughed just as much when he watched it again.
- The 1998 comedy earned nearly $370 million worldwide.

## Summary

Ron Howard named *There’s Something About Mary* the funniest film he has seen, saying it made him laugh hardest and continued to do so on a repeat viewing. His choice highlights the broad, bawdy comedy of the 1998 Farrelly brothers film, despite Howard’s more wholesome public image and his usual reputation as a straight-faced actor and director.

The article notes that the film’s humour includes scenes involving bodily fluids and a zipper mishap, and that some jokes may not land the same way today. It grossed nearly $370 million worldwide, making it the fourth-highest-grossing release of 1998; whether it still holds up is a matter of taste.
