- They released a collaborative album in 2025.

## Summary

Brandi Carlile’s childhood admiration for Elton John developed into a close friendship and a songwriting partnership. John has called her one of the most talented songwriters he knows, and their collaboration matters as an example of a fan connection growing into a lasting creative relationship.

Carlile first wrote to John as an established musician, describing his influence and asking him to appear on a record; they later recorded “Caroline” for her 2009 album. They reunited for John’s 2021 album The Lockdown Sessions on “Simple Things”, which became one of his favourites, before releasing the joint album Who Believes in Angels? in 2025, alongside Bernie Taupin and Andrew Watt.
