Toy maker Mondo has unveiled a new 1/6 scale action figure of Shredder, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' arch-nemesis, marking the latest step in the company's push to translate the long-running franchise into premium collectibles. The reveal follows Mondo's earlier success with Turtles figures and comes as Shredder prepares to return to cinemas as the villain of the upcoming sequel to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, keeping the character relevant more than 40 years after his comic-book debut.

The figure blends design elements from across Shredder's many incarnations, including his '80s cartoon look and his ties to Krang's Dimension X forces, and comes packed with removable armour and fabric costume pieces, three interchangeable heads, five pairs of hands, a removable helmet and a holographic Krang communicator, plus an exclusive MondoVerse comic. It will retail for $265. Mondo creative director Peter Santa-Maria said the team aimed to reimagine the animated and video-game Shredder as though he were appearing in a '90s live-action film, combining a purple, grey and chrome palette with armour that looks forged in Dimension X alongside battle-worn leather elements.
