Jesse Eisenberg has recalled how his 2005 horror comedy Cursed, directed by Wes Craven and written by Scream's Kevin Williamson, had to be filmed twice after the studio scrapped the initial version. Speaking to Den of Geek, the actor described it as a "terribly disappointing experience", noting that despite an initially strong script, the film was extensively reworked and reshot for reasons that remain unclear to him.

Eisenberg, then 19, starred alongside Christina Ricci, playing her brother, in what was expected to be a hit given Craven's horror pedigree and Williamson's involvement with the hugely successful Scream trilogy. Instead, Cursed flopped, earning poor reviews and grossing just $29 million against a budget of around $39 million. Eisenberg praised Craven as a director despite the ordeal, while suggesting the film's failure stemmed from a lack of originality following Scream's success.
