Gillian Anderson has returned to her role as Dana Scully to unveil the long-awaited LEGO set based on The X-Files, part of the fan-designed LEGO Ideas range. The 1,478-piece set, officially numbered 21369, will go on general sale from 4 August, following three days' early access for LEGO Insiders from 1 August, priced at $200 (£179.99, €199.99, CAD$269.99 or AU$329.99).

The set includes eight minifigures, among them Fox Mulder, Dana Scully, Walter Skinner, Mr X, Alex Krycek, Carl Busch, the Flukeman and a grey alien, and features a cutaway underground lab packed with references to the show alongside an above-ground forest scene complete with a UFO and tractor-beam effect. A smaller Gift With Purchase set featuring Scully's Lab will also be available while stocks last. LEGO marked the reveal with a short promotional film of Anderson donning latex gloves to examine the set, coinciding with a busy period for the franchise that includes a director's cut of The X-Files: I Want to Believe arriving on Hulu in August and a reboot reportedly being developed by director Ryan Coogler.
