## Key points

- Google Vids is free for individual users.
- It supports templates, media imports and AI-assisted creation.
- It suits personal projects, not professional multitrack editing.

## Summary

Google Vids, Google’s browser-based video editor, is now available free to individuals after launching for business and enterprise users in 2024. It offers a simple way to make personal and hobby videos through Google Drive, though it is not designed for professional, high-resolution or complex multitrack editing.

Users can start with a blank project, templates, uploaded footage, slideshows or several AI-assisted options, including generated video, music and avatars. The editing interface has a timeline for video and audio, tools for adding media and text, and controls for splitting or duplicating scenes, adjusting fades and transitions, and recording voiceovers or webcam clips.
