Google and its partners have announced the first five laptops under the new Googlebook brand, from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP and Lenovo. Pre-orders open immediately, with the devices due in shops on 4 October and priced from $899 to $1,299, placing them alongside the MacBook Air and comparable Windows laptops.

Each model includes 12 months of Google AI Pro with 5TB of cloud storage, plus three-month trials of YouTube Premium, Adobe Photoshop and CapCut. Google is promising up to 10 years of software updates; hardware options include Intel Core Ultra processors, OLED touchscreens, 16GB or more of RAM and fingerprint sensors, while Acer’s entry price may rise because of component shortages.
