They Are Gutting a Body of Water – ‘Kool Faith / Loosies II’ album review: Ambition without boundaries
Philadelphia shoegaze band They Are Gutting a Body of Water have released *Kool Faith / Loosies II*, a 29-track mixtape built from mashups and collaborations. It draws on frontman Doug Dulgarian’s memories of locally made mixtape CDs and extends the band’s sound beyond their 2025 album, *Lotto*.
The project features artists including Hotline TNT, Spirit of the Beehive, Full Body 2, Her New Knife, Hooky and Tony Bontana. The review highlights the changing guitar textures of ‘The Rook’ and the synth-heavy ‘Heart Knower’, while noting that some brief tracks feel like interludes and the album takes several listens to revisit.
- TAGABOW’s new mixtape spans 29 tracks.
- It blends shoegaze with collaborators’ ideas.
- The collection recalls homemade mixtapes and local music scenes.
