Ron Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox has begun work on Thimbleweed Park 2, reviving the 2017 point-and-click adventure after years of uncertainty over a follow-up. Although billed as neither a straightforward sequel nor prequel, it signals a return to the series’ deliberately strange, retro-styled mystery format and reunites much of the original creative team.

The game is planned for early 2028 and will be self-published with private investment. Agents Ray and Reyes return to investigate a body at Edmund Mansion, where every resident is a suspect; Gilbert says Mark Ferrari, Gary Winnick, David Fox, Octavi Navarro and Robert Megone are among returning contributors, while the Steam page describes it as “more Thimbleweed Park” rather than a direct continuation.
