Edy Gutierrez Mejia, a 29-year-old Guatemalan man, has been identified as the third person killed when an NBC News helicopter crashed and caught fire in a Chatsworth parking lot, Los Angeles. NBC reporter Eliana “Eli” Moreno, 38, and pilot George Marciniw, 70, also died, and investigators are examining footage recorded during the live broadcast to establish what caused the crash.

Mejia had arrived in Los Angeles two days earlier to collect a car and drive it to Guatemala for resale. Moreno was an experienced aerial reporter who had worked for NBC, KCAL and KCBS, while Marciniw had more than 14,000 helicopter flight hours and had flown with Moreno since 2023. The National Transportation Safety Board said the live video could be its most important evidence and plans to obtain an unaltered copy for analysis.
