RugOne has unveiled the Xsnap 7 Pro, a rugged smartphone with a distinctive feature: one of its three rear cameras detaches to work as a standalone action camera. The device, which debuted at MWC 2026, is aimed at extreme sports and outdoor use, combining heavy-duty water and dust protection with a modular camera system not offered by rival rugged phones. It launches via Kickstarter on 7th September at €799 (around $930) in limited numbers, ahead of a wider global release in October priced at $999.

The phone carries IP68 and IP69K ratings, allowing it to withstand high-pressure water jets and full submersion for up to 30 minutes, while the detachable camera can go even deeper, to five metres. That camera shoots at up to 2.7K resolution and 30fps through a 133-degree ultrawide lens, falling short of 4K rivals like the DJI Osmo Nano and Insta360 Go Ultra, but includes distortion correction and stabilisation software. Its own battery lasts 40 minutes but can be recharged repeatedly via the phone's 9,300mAh battery for up to 800 minutes of total use, with 64GB of onboard storage transferable to the phone's 512GB. The Xsnap 7 Pro itself runs a MediaTek Dimensity 8400 5G chipset, 12GB of RAM, Android 16 (upgradeable to Android 20), a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen usable as a remote viewfinder up to 160 feet away, plus a 32MP selfie camera, 50MP main camera and 64MP infrared night-vision camera.
