Netflix has begun production on "This Summer Will Be Different," a 10-episode romance series based on Carley Fortune's novel, with filming taking place on Prince Edward Island and in Toronto. Six new recurring cast members have been announced, joining previously confirmed leads Sophie Nélisse, Francesca Reale and Roby Attal, as the streamer builds out its adaptation of Fortune's sun-soaked story about a young woman navigating her 20s and a forbidden romance with her best friend's brother.

The new additions include Jordan Rodrigues as Miles Lam, Jude Wilson as Zach, Natalie Brown as Christine, James Tupper as Ken, Tom Barnett as Peter and Cecilia Owen as Joy. The series is directed by Karen Maine, Jasmin Mozaffari and Fab Filippo, with Dane Clark and Linsey Steward serving as creators, showrunners and executive producers alongside Fortune and Sphere Media's Jennifer Kawaja, Elise Cousineau and Sam Levine. It follows Prime Video's earlier adaptation of another Fortune novel, "Every Summer After," released in June as "Every Year After."
