## Key points

- Purge is free and open source.
- It helps find caches and files left by old apps.
- It can remove Apple Intelligence models taking over 10 GB.

## Summary

Purge is a free, open-source Mac app that shows what is using hard-drive space and offers tools to remove selected clutter. It matters because caches, files left by uninstalled apps and, for some users, Apple Intelligence models can take up substantial room.

The app identifies large files, caches, app data and other safe-to-remove items, including Aerial screen savers and Homebrew installation caches. It moves files to the Trash so they can be recovered, and its uninstall tool removes associated settings and downloaded files as well as the app itself. The article says Apple Intelligence models can occupy over 10 GB; Purge can remove them and stop macOS reinstalling them.
