## Summary

The Magicians, a five-season television adaptation of Lev Grossman’s novels, combines a demanding graduate school for magicians with the dangerous fantasy world of Fillory. Its story follows Quentin Coldwater, a philosophy student who finds that the magic he longed for can bring wonder and adventure but cannot fix every hardship.

The series ran for 65 episodes, with self-contained seasonal arcs, magical mysteries and an ensemble of complicated adults in their twenties. Its spells rely on intricate hand movements and study, while the tone shifts between serious themes such as depression and grief and playful touches, including students turning into geese and musical episodes.
