Three-time Olympian Lolo Jones has accused Team USA of abandoning her after she suffered a serious spinal injury during bobsled testing. Her account raises questions about the medical support and duty of care provided to elite athletes competing under the US Olympic and Paralympic Committee system.

Jones said the incident occurred in February 2025 at the Olympic training complex in Lake Placid, New York, while the US bobsled team was testing equipment before the World Championships. She was riding in a team-issued sled that reached speeds close to 90mph and says she realised something was wrong after reaching the bottom of the track; she alleges the USOPC subsequently denied her medical care.
