Four people have been arrested in connection with the 1994 murder of Doreen Morris, a 64-year-old widow who was stabbed with a fork and had her body burned in her bungalow near Holyhead, Anglesey. The North Wales Police Major Crime Review Team announced the arrests, describing them as a breakthrough following forensic developments and a fresh review of witness evidence in a case that had remained unsolved for over three decades.

Mrs Morris was found dead in her burned-out home in March 1994, with a post-mortem showing burns inflicted after death and a silver fork discovered beneath her body; stolen items, including a bloodstained hi-fi tape deck and amplifier, were later recovered nearby. A man, Joseph Carl Westbury, was charged with her murder but acquitted at Chester Crown Court in 1995, and he later took his own life in 2016; a reopened inquest in 2023 concluded he and an accomplice, Stuart Queen, had burgled the property and that Westbury killed Mrs Morris. Police say three women and a man, all from North Wales, have now been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice as the case review continues.
