Thveit is a Norse citybuilder filled with folklore creatures where the changing seasons shape how you develop your village
Rock Paper Shotgun has spotlighted Thveit, an upcoming city builder drawing on Norse folklore, in which the shifting seasons dictate how players develop and manage their settlement. Unlike conventional city builders focused on modern infrastructure, Thveit begins with a small group establishing a homestead in a forest clearing, gradually expanding through farming, animal husbandry and resource management, with its distinctiveness coming from the interplay of seasonal survival mechanics and mythological creatures.
Each season imposes different priorities: spring for harvesting crops, summer for construction, autumn for stockpiling food, clothing, fuel and offerings, and winter as the test of the player's preparation. The game also features Norse creatures such as trolls and dragons, which can be housed and cared for, in turn providing help such as carrying heavy materials, alongside shrines that let players honour the gods. Thveit currently has no confirmed release date but is planned to launch into early access, and is available to wishlist on Steam.
