Shifting Gears, the ABC sitcom starring Tim Allen, is bringing former 2 Broke Girls co-stars Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs back together on screen for Season 3. Behrs has joined the show in a guest role that reunites the pair, who spent six seasons together on 2 Broke Girls, giving fans of the earlier CBS comedy a nostalgic crossover moment. The casting also reunites Behrs with Michelle Nader, a 2 Broke Girls executive producer who now serves as showrunner on Shifting Gears.

Behrs will play Dr Johnson, an emergency room doctor who treats Dennings' character, Riley, after she suffers a back injury. Shifting Gears follows Tim Allen's Matt, a widowed vintage car restorer whose life changes when his estranged daughter and her two children move in; the cast also includes Seann William Scott, Daryl "Chill" Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis. Behrs, most recently seen in The Neighborhood, joins a production team that includes Allen and Nader as executive producers, with Dennings as a producer; Season 3 is set to premiere on ABC in 2027.
