Tim Curry, the British actor renowned for his versatile and often villainous screen performances, has died on 25 August 2026 at the age of 80. Trained on stage before moving into film, he built a reputation as one of cinema's most memorable antagonists, most famously as Dr Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, a role that made him a household name and launched a decades-long Hollywood career.

Born in Grappenhall, Cheshire, in 1946, Curry lost his father at 12 and was educated in Bath before studying English and Drama at the University of Birmingham. He began in theatre, joining the original London cast of Hair in 1968, and went on to star in a string of cult and mainstream films including Legend, Clue, Annie, The Hunt for Red October, The Three Musketeers, Home Alone 2 and Muppet Treasure Island, cementing his standing as one of Hollywood's most respected character actors before his screen presence diminished in later years.
