Residents of Kingfield, Maine, a town of fewer than 1,000 people, have raised concerns about repeated retreats by Legendarios, an evangelical Christian movement from Guatemala, which hosted over 700 men at a local campsite this summer. The community claims the group's activities—including unauthorised trail clearing, marching, and chanting throughout day and night—have caused significant disruption to the neighbourhood, prompting the town's select board to consider legal action to prevent future visits.

Legendarios, which was founded 26 years ago and claims 19,741 members across the United States, states it offers "adventures with powerful encounters with God" designed to transform men. The group's local leader, Kendrys Vasquez, asserts they obtained permission from the landowner and have broken no laws, claiming their intention was to improve the space and provide safety for participants. However, residents dispute this characterisation; one neighbour noted that the pond's natural acoustics amplify the group's activities, describing their chanting and vocalising as disruptive.
