Ghost frontman Tobias Forge has spoken candidly about the band's hiatus following the completion of the "Skeletour", which supported 2025 album 'Skeletá'. He told Kerrangi! that after 70 dates on the road, he felt exhausted and, for the first time in his career, uncertain about the band's next direction, prompting him to step back rather than force a new album without genuine inspiration.

Forge explained he needs to feel personally driven to make new music rather than fulfilling contractual or habitual expectations, describing the tour's end as a natural "finale" rather than a definitive ending. He also cited wanting to spend more time with his wife and 17-year-old twins after 15 years of Ghost commitments, alongside other creative projects including two film ventures and another album recording. Forge stressed the wish list for Ghost's future, including its theatrical "lore", remains open, but any further work will come "at some other point".
