Told Slant – “Draw Blood”

Stereogum · 3 hours ago

Told Slant, the New York indie project led by Felix Walworth, has released a new song called "Draw Blood" from their forthcoming album What's Up. The track follows last month's announcement of the record and its lead single "Manhattan," continuing the band's characteristically bleak yet melodic style, and matters as another preview of a closely watched release from a long-running fixture of the NYC indie scene.

Walworth described the song as emerging from a sense of overwhelming frustration and grievance, channelled into religious imagery and prayer-like appeals. The psalm-like lyrics pair mundane and fantastical imagery over guitars described as dejected but hypnotic. What's Up is set for release on 4th September via Mtn. Laurel Recording Co.
