The renewed streaming interest comes as Cruise prepares to star in Digger, a satirical black comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, marking his first non-franchise lead role since 2017's American Made and already generating early awards buzz.

Top Gun: Maverick, a long-awaited sequel to the 1986 original, was written by Christopher McQuarrie and directed by Joseph Kosinski, with a cast including Miles Teller, Monica Barbaro and Glen Powell alongside Cruise. Made on a reported budget of $177 million, it grossed roughly $1.45 billion worldwide, making it one of the highest-earning films of the decade, and its current streaming resurgence underscores its lasting popularity.
