Tom Hanks’ WW2 Epic Enters Oppenheimer Era While Dominating Online Charts

Collider · 2 months ago

Collider reports that "World War II with Tom Hanks", a 20-episode documentary series hosted and executive-produced by the Oscar-winning actor, is nearing the end of its run and has topped the digital charts for over a month. The series has been promoted as the most complete account of the conflict, and it continues Hanks' long association with WWII storytelling on screen.

The 11th and 12th episodes, aired on 29 June, covered the Allied campaign in Italy and the role of aerial combat — the latter being the focus of "Masters of the Air", one of three narrative WWII series Hanks executive-produced with Steven Spielberg. This week the documentary returns with its 13th and 14th episodes, titled "Overlord" and "Long Road to Tokyo". Hanks' wider WWII work includes starring roles in "Saving Private Ryan" and "Greyhound".
