Tom Hardy's 2015 sci-fi epic Mad Max: Fury Road has become the biggest streaming success of his career more than a decade after its release, according to a report highlighting its enduring popularity on streaming platforms. The film's renewed prominence comes as Hardy remains in the spotlight following a turbulent year that included false rumours he had been sacked from MobLand, since confirmed as untrue, alongside his ongoing box-office success as Eddie Brock in Sony's Venom trilogy.

Directed by George Miller with a reported budget of around $100 million, Mad Max: Fury Road won six Academy Awards at the 2016 ceremony, including Best Film Editing, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. Hardy's 2015 output also included an Oscar-nominated turn in The Revenant, while more recently the Venom films have grossed over $1.5 billion for Sony across three instalments, and he is set to reprise his MobLand role in Season 2, which premieres on 18 September.
