Tom Hiddleston's next streaming project has been confirmed as Tenzing, an Apple TV biographical film about the 1953 Everest expedition. The actor, best known for playing Loki in the Marvel franchise and for The Night Manager, will play Sir Edmund Hillary alongside Genden Phuntsok as Sherpa Tenzing Norgay, marking his latest high-profile move between film and television.

Willem Dafoe co-stars as expedition leader John Hunt, with the film directed by documentary maker Jennifer Peedom, making her narrative feature debut after several mountaineering documentaries. Shot on location around Everest and in Kathmandu, the film explores the enduring mystery of which climber reached the summit first, a detail Norgay later confirmed was Hillary. Tenzing premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival on 15 September, gets a limited theatrical release from 9 October, and arrives on Apple TV on 16 October.
