Tom Holland has said there is an established, though flexible, plan for eventually handing the Spider-Man role to another actor. Speaking ahead of his return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, he said he has a clear vision for the transition, suggesting Marvel and Sony are considering the character’s longer-term future beyond his tenure.

Holland first joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War and has since played Spider-Man across several Marvel and Sony films. He has previously said he would like to mentor a successor, potentially involving characters such as Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen or Spider-Woman, and recently named Adolescence actor Owen Cooper as a possible choice; no casting or succession plans have been confirmed.
