Tottenham in talks to sign winger Mudryk on loan

BBC Sport · 10 hours ago

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks to sign Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on a season-long loan, having entered the race late after failing in attempts to land Everton's Iliman Ndiaye and Liverpool's Cody Gakpo. The 25-year-old Ukraine international is keen to play in the Premier League after his doping case with the Football Association was resolved last month, and Spurs are now understood to be favourites to secure the deal ahead of Leeds, with whom Chelsea had also held talks.

Mudryk joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for an initial £61m in January 2023 but has not played competitively since November 2024, having been provisionally suspended after testing positive for the banned substance meldonium. He was originally given a maximum four-year ban, which he appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, before the FA confirmed on 31 July that the case had been resolved and he was free to return, having accepted a breach of anti-doping rules and a suspension equal to time already served. He is said to retain a personal connection with Spurs boss Roberto de Zerbi, who managed him at Shakhtar, while Tottenham have also expressed interest in Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
