A small tourist aircraft has crashed in southern Peru while flying over the Nazca Lines, killing all 13 people on board. The incident highlights the continuing safety risks associated with sightseeing flights above the UNESCO-listed archaeological site, which is a major visitor attraction.

The plane had departed from Pisco and crashed at about 13:00 local time in the Pueblo Viejo area. It carried 11 passengers and two pilots; officials said there were no survivors, while the cause of the crash and passengers’ identities were not immediately known. Similar crashes over the Nazca Lines killed seven people in 2022 and six in 2010.
