Train derails near Essex town of Wickford
A Greater Anglia train has derailed at Wickford station in Essex, with its rear carriages leaving the tracks but remaining upright. No injuries have been reported, but the incident has closed the line between Wickford and Southend Victoria and caused major disruption to services from London Liverpool Street.
The derailment occurred less than a day after a separate incident near Lewes in East Sussex, where several Southern train carriages left the tracks and tipped onto their side. Around 150 passengers were evacuated from that train, and two people suffered severe but non-life-threatening injuries; investigations into both incidents are under way.
- Train derails at Wickford; no injuries reported.
