Two transgender teenage athletes in New Hampshire have dropped their lawsuit challenging a state law that bars trans athletes from competing in girls' sports, following a US Supreme Court ruling on 30 June that upheld such state-level bans. The withdrawal effectively ends a legal fight that had become a prominent test case in the wider national dispute over transgender participation in women's and girls' sport, signalling that similar challenges now face little prospect of success.

The plaintiffs, Parker Tirrell and Iris Turmelle, first filed suit in 2024, later expanding it to include the Trump administration after the president signed the "No Men in Women's Sports" executive order in February 2025. Their lawyers argued the order and related measures discriminated against transgender girls in breach of equal protection guarantees and Title IX. Female athletes represented by the Alliance Defending Freedom had intervened to defend the law, and the group welcomed the case's conclusion, arguing the state law and executive orders align with Title IX and protect fairness in women's sport.
