## Summary

Trans-rights protesters demonstrated outside the opening of a flagship Harry Potter store on London’s Oxford Street on Wednesday, as actors Tom Felton and Warwick Davis attended. The protest highlighted continuing opposition to author J.K. Rowling’s advocacy on transgender issues and brought that debate to a high-profile franchise event.

Protesters carried signs, waved a trans flag and urged visitors to choose other books, while police were stationed along the street. The store covers 21,000 square feet across two floors and is described as the UK’s largest Harry Potter shop. More than 11,000 people have signed a petition asking Mayor Sadiq Khan to cancel an upcoming Harry Potter-themed Christmas lights display on Oxford Street.
