Travis Scott Teams With James Blake, Ludwig Goransson for ‘The Odyssey’ Closer ‘When I’m Home’
Travis Scott has released "When I'm Home," the end-credits song for Christopher Nolan's new film adaptation of The Odyssey, made in collaboration with James Blake and composer Ludwig Goransson. Scott, who also plays a small role as a bard in the film, blends lines from Homer's original text with contemporary lyrics on the track, which touches on Odysseus's long voyage home. The release ties into Nolan's stated intention to draw a parallel between the oral-poetry tradition of the ancient epic and modern rap.
On the track, Scott raps verses evoking exhaustion and a search for divine guidance, while Blake takes on the role of the Siren, delivering a sparse, atmospheric vocal between verses. Goransson, a three-time Academy Award winner for his scores for Black Panther, Sinners and Oppenheimer, oversees the song's production. This marks Scott's second collaboration with Nolan following "The Plan," which he contributed to the 2020 film Tenet, also produced by Goransson.
