The AI music platform Treblo has effectively confirmed that "Rubberz," a synthpop track by LA rapper Fenix Flexin, was created using its software, making it the first apparently AI-generated song to chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Fenix and producer Purps On The Beat had repeatedly denied AI involvement, but mounting evidence — including a new detection tool and comments from Treblo's co-founder — undermines those denials, raising fresh questions about transparency and honesty in the music industry as AI-made tracks become more common.

Suspicions grew after producer Medasin published breakdowns showing he could replicate the song's vocal style using Treblo (formerly Sonauto AI), pointed to a leaked file named "Sonauto," and debunked Fenix's attempt to prove authenticity via audio stems. "Rubberz" reached number 58 on the Hot 100, and on Monday Treblo released a classifier that flagged the track as "very likely" made with its tool, while co-founder Ryan Tremblay told a Substack writer that "someone appears to have used our model" to create it. The controversy comes as major record labels propose new rules requiring AI-generated songs to be lawfully made, substantially human-created and free of chart manipulation before they can qualify for the charts.
