Trent Alexander-Arnold has been recalled to England’s squad for the upcoming Nations League matches, but Thomas Tuchel has warned that the Real Madrid defender must improve his defensive solidity. Tuchel still views him as a right-back, and says the squad selection gives Alexander-Arnold an opportunity to reclaim his place.

Alexander-Arnold has started only three of Real Madrid’s seven matches this season, while several established full-backs are unavailable through injury. The squad also includes recalls for Jarrad Branthwaite, Lewis Hall, Myles Lewis-Skelly, Alex Scott, Cole Palmer and Dominic Calvert-Lewin, plus teenager Rio Ngumoha; England will face Spain, Czechia and Croatia.
