Trevor Donovan Signs To Play Time-Traveling Cowboy In ‘The Devil’s Train’

Deadline · 1 month ago

Actor Trevor Donovan has signed on to lead Jack Gill's action-sci-fi-Western film The Devil's Train, playing Hondo, a Hollywood stuntman who leads a double life as a time-travelling cowboy. The casting matters as it pairs a physically committed lead — Donovan intends to perform most of his own stunts — with veteran stunt coordinator Gill (Fast & Furious, Captain America: Civil War) in his directorial effort on a genre-bending project.

The film, written by Matthew Dickens and produced by Cliffhanger Cowboys, follows Hondo as he tries to rob the treasure-laden Devil's Train, moving car to car through different time periods and traps to reach the vault. Adapted from Dickens's unpublished novel and subsequent comic book series (published by Bliss On Tap), it is scheduled for a 16-week principal photography shoot in autumn 2026 across Arizona, Australia and California. Donovan recently wrapped Ethan Almighty and is currently filming the fourth season of When Hope Calls.
