Troye Sivan Wants His New Album to Make a Cultural Impact, Not Just a Commercial One: ‘This One Is Going to Age Well’

Billboard · 3 hours ago

Troye Sivan says he is prioritising cultural impact over first-week sales for his forthcoming fourth album, She’s the Best. He wants the record to create memorable pop-cultural moments rather than pass unnoticed, following the prominent queer-pop era around 2023’s Something to Give Each Other and the subsequent SWEAT Tour with Charli xcx.

Sivan describes the new album as a more chaotic, expressive departure from the “perfect pop” approach of his previous release, drawing on Janet Jackson, late-1990s grunge-pop and Fatboy Slim. Made partly at home with his brother, it will have a quick rollout so listeners can experience it as a complete journey; the title track was released on 14 August, while the album is due on 9 October through his new label, Interscope Records.

  • Sivan wants lasting cultural influence, not sales-focused success.
  • She’s the Best is due on 9 October.
  • The album promises a messier, more expressive sound.
