The Trump administration has withdrawn a federal demand for the University of Pennsylvania to provide names and contact details of Jewish employees. The move ends a contentious legal dispute over the request, which critics said risked identifying people by religion, although the wider investigation into alleged workplace antisemitism at Penn continues.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission had issued the subpoena in July 2025, seeking information including employees connected to Jewish studies and Jewish campus groups, as well as antisemitism complaints. A federal judge had largely upheld the request in March, but under the agreement Penn will drop its appeal and the EEOC will no longer seek the contested identifying records.
