- Trump-backed measure has bipartisan support in Congress

## Summary

A bipartisan effort to make Daylight Saving Time permanent in the United States has advanced after the House Rules Committee cleared the way for a full chamber vote. The measure, known as the Sunshine Protection Act, has the backing of President Trump and aims to end the twice-yearly practice of changing clocks, a system many lawmakers and members of the public consider outdated and disruptive.

The House Rules Committee approved the bill on Monday, teeing it up for a vote before the full House of Representatives. If passed, the legislation would eliminate the seasonal switch between standard time and daylight saving time, keeping clocks permanently set to daylight saving time year-round across the country.
