- Trump reportedly criticised his son’s decision to accept Kremlev’s funding.
- Bettina said the celebrations were a wedding gift from a friend.
- Trump has said Don Jr repaid the Russian businessman.

## Summary

President Donald Trump reportedly criticised his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr, in private for accepting help from Russian businessman Umar Kremlev to fund celebrations after his wedding. The account, attributed to the Wall Street Journal, has drawn scrutiny because of Kremlev’s reported links to Vladimir Putin and questions about the judgement involved.

Trump Jr married socialite Bettina in a private Palm Beach ceremony, then attended a pre-planned weekend of celebrations in the Bahamas in May. Bettina said Kremlev, whom she called a friend, generously hosted two nights after the wedding; Trump has said his son repaid him. The ceremony had 18 guests and the reception 50, and House Oversight Democrats have raised questions about the funding.
