## Key points

- Trump paused his Florida rally to wipe his eye.
- He dismissed speculation about his health.
- Two cancelled weekend rallies were reinstated.

## Summary

Donald Trump paused a campaign rally in Daytona Beach to wipe his eye after struggling to keep it open, saying he had something in it. He then mocked speculation about his health, which had grown after he cancelled two planned weekend rallies before reinstating them.

The incident took place about an hour into the Friday event, held ahead of Tuesday’s midterm elections that will determine control of Congress. Trump, 80, had said he felt “perfect”; when asked about the cancellations, he criticised the reporter who raised the issue. The rally also included interruptions by protesters and attacks by Republicans on Democratic congresswoman Ilhan Omar.
