- A six-day truce in Oleshky enabled nearly 800 people to leave.

## Summary

Donald Trump said a Russia-Ukraine agreement may be close after meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin’s envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, at the White House. The meeting followed a diplomatic gathering hosted by First Lady Melania Trump, where Russian and Ukrainian representatives discussed building on a recent humanitarian truce.

Trump gave no details of his conversation with Dmitriev and said he had not met the Ukrainian delegation. The truce in Russian-occupied Oleshky ran from 27 October to 1 November, enabling nearly 800 civilians to leave and allowing food and medical supplies to reach the city. Melania Trump urged both sides to pursue a more lasting outcome and gave representatives letters for Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy; Trump said a wider agreement could involve “all of Europe”.
