An NBC poll found that 55 per cent of Americans believe Trump’s policies have harmed the economy, while his approval rating has fallen to 41 per cent. Democrats lead Republicans by 50 per cent to 45 per cent in the congressional preference poll, although that margin is narrower than in 2018; Republicans are also facing difficult Senate contests, including in Alaska, Maine, Ohio and Michigan, while early voting has begun in some states.
